I just joined this tribe recently and wanted to introduce myself.
My name is Yasemin Yildiz, I'm in So.Cal.
I'm a dancer, costumer and new owner of store 'Tribal Bazaar'.
I've been following Basilon around the Ren faires and dancing in the Oasis.

Just a reminder- The Ojai-Lake Casitas faire gatelist deadline is MAY 3. Please let me know if you want to be gatelisted. And those of you who spaced on Escondido and didnt show up--- PLEASE let me know if you are not coming. It really reflects badly on us if I submit a gatelist of 15 and only 2 show up...

Basilon is currently recruiting dancers and musicians for upcoming
California Renaissance Faires.

Basilon sponsors a performance area adjacent to our musical instrument booth. The Oasis is a place for local dancers and musicians to gather and express our art and music for ourselves, each other and the general Faire-goer public. Hi- It's that time again, the new Faire season is almost here. Basilon is again hosting "The Oasis" at several Renaissance Faires this year, the first being the Escondido Faire in April.( 2 weekends) The Oasis is a performance/chill area adjacent to our musical instrument booth where dancers/drummers/musicians can gather to perform and hang out. Last call for Oasis at Escondido.

Have not heard from many of you... Any interest in participating in the upcoming Escondido Renaissance Faire-for free PLEASE let me know asap! Gatelist goes in on Monday.
The Faire is on April1-2, and 8-9. You dont have to do both faires. One would be good.

If you decide to come and the gatelist has already been submitted, you can still participate, the cost is $5.00, but I would still need to know beforehand.

Middle Eastern Drumming and Music in Big Bear

Where: Big Bear Mountain Brewery

The Brewery is going to attempt to provide middle eastern snacks and food!

I am feeling better about Oasis. The concept worked, as it should, and will continue to work if people show up. Next event is Ojai-Pirate. Please let me know now if you will be there, or not. Thanks.

The future of the Oasis.

Charlie and I have discussed it and have decided to suspend "Oasis" after this year's Pirate Festival except for the Ojai Faires.

This last weekend, I had almost 25 people gatelisted and 2 showed up. It takes time, effort and money to provide the Oasis and it is obviously not appreciated by those who flaked, again. I understand that if you said you were coming, you were coming as a volunteer and I would have been very appreciative. I also would have appreciated a call or other notification that you were not coming.

I love the concept and would love to continue doing it but I just dont have the energy, or help to do it. The individual promoters of the various faires also love the concept, and give us extra space but when we have 1 dancer, and 1 drummer, it reflects poorly on us. If we decide to try it again, it will be under different circumstances.

We have committed to Big Bear, and have no idea of who will really be there, I hope someone shows up, because the promoter is expecting dancers and musicians and even built us our own stage. Pirate Fair will be our home faire so we will expend the resources to provide Oasis, this time. Beyond this, we dont know.

Big Bear GATELIST and we hace our own stage!

Also compiling gatelist for Big Bear. It is a 2 weekend event. If you can come to one or both, let me know. We will have the Basilon booth, OASIS and an encampment. If you have a period tent and would like to set it up, please let me know.
We have our own stage! We will need to set up performance times. Also, we will be scheduling a "Drum Circle" during the fair on the "OASIS Stage". Talk to me people!
